Admissions

When to apply

The application for admission in 2019 will be available July 1, 2018-February 1, 2019 through the Office of Graduate and Professional Admissions.

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Completion of bachelor degree in any field from an accredited university
  • Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale

 

Application Materials

All materials must be submitted by the application deadline.

  • Online application
  • Current resume or curriculum vitae
  • Purpose and goals statement
  • Innovation Exercise
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Transcripts from all universities and colleges ever attended
  • GRE scores (if required, please see below)
  • Test of English proficiency (for international applicants)
  • $60 non-refundable application fee, paid at time of application submission
  • Online interview

GRE Requirement

GRE scores are not required for most applicants.  GRE scores will only be required for applicants who meet any of the following criteria:

  1. Applicant has a total combined undergraduate GPA below a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; or,
  2. Applicant has a total combined graduate GPA below a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; or,
  3. Applicant has previous coursework completed at an unaccredited college or university as determined by the university’s Graduate Admissions Office (Contact gradadmissions@osu.edu for additional information); or,
  4. Applicant is interested in being considered for nomination in the Graduate School's University Fellowship competition.

The Graduate School may require a GRE score from any applicant to further evaluate their application.
GRE score must be within the past five years.  The university’s GRE code is 1592.

 

Application Status

  • All applicants can check their application completion status through the Application Status website here
  • Your username and password are the same as those which you used to apply or have set up through the university. If you have difficulty logging in, go to https://my.osu.edu/ or email 8help@osu.edu .
  • Applicants are expected to keep track of their completion status.

 

Inter-University Transfer

  • If you were previously enrolled in a degree-granting graduate program at Ohio State for any length of time, your application process will differ slightly from above.
    • Begin by accessing the MHI application though Graduate Admissions
    • Indicate your status as either a current or former Ohio State student
    • Select the application for “Graduate Intra-University Transfer”
  • The required application materials include:
    • Current resume or curriculum vitae
    • Purpose and goals statement
    • Three letters of recommendation
    • Transcripts from all universities and colleges ever attended
